Rita Xavier Monteiro

Rita Xavier Monteiro was born in Oporto, Portugal, in 1987. She lives and works in Lisbon. She graduated in Philosophy (FLUP, 2008) and has a Master in Art Studies (FBAUP, 2011). She was invited assistant professor for the ES / IPP discipline (2010-2014), where she is a member of the Art and Heritage Studies. She had a research scholarship by the Art History Institute (FCSH / UNL) for the project of contemporary art documentation in 2012 and the project Unplace, between 2014 and 2015. In her work as a curator, the highlight are the screening Um Retrato Quase Apagado with Fátima Lambert for the Cerveira Biennial 2013, the program of performance Art Symptoms and Side Effects 2013, organized with Rita Castro Neves and Fátima Lambert and the virtual exhibition Unplace: Places-between spaces, curated by António Pinto Ribeiro for the Gulbenkian Next Future program. Shee participated in the seminar Maiscrítica and develops critical work of performing arts, publishing and collaborating with various institutions
